Yuma

I get out to Yuma, Arizona for work when I can. Naturally, it's where you go if you want to grow things.

Nah, it still surprises me that anything at all grows out there. But, there is a surprising amount of agriculture out there, all well organized and irrigated from the canals on the Gila River.

Plants and water are incidental, though. I'm not choosing crops or where to put them or how to grow them or, in this case, how to harvest them. I'm just picking projects based on the people I work with, when I've got the flexibility to do so. I'm drawing a blank on which book or article I read recently ("recently", probably months ago by now) that had a few quips about how bad people are at engineering their futures or careers or whatever—that the good things often come from unexpected or unintended adventures. Something like that. So, when I find good people, and then keep inviting me back to help, and the project is reasonably interesting, then you can put me on the roster. I'm ready to play.
